HOTCHPOTCH

My name is Atma, I am a french artist/muralist based in London.

I have been painting murals for more than 10 years in France, Spain, Morroco, UK and Mexico (see picture attached: one of the murals in Mexico).

In september, I will be in Lisbon to create a large scale mural/installation at the LX factory. This piece is part of a collective show organised by HOTCH POTCH, a european organisation promoting contemporary art. Hugo Madeira, the curator of the show, was actually one of your students and he kindly gave me your details.

The image will be a man rising from an earthquake (see sketch picture attached: "enlightenment in process"). The man will be painted on the wall of the LX factory (14 m long x 6 m high) and the earthquake will be a giant chaos on the floor (starting from the bottom of the torso) created with broken chairs, desks, tables, rubbish, etc... I am fascinated by the incredible resilience of Lisbon people who re-builded their city after the great earthquake of 1755 and this installation will be a celebration of portuguese people & power.

I am contacting you because I would love to have a video/documentary of the process of creation of this piece and I thought some video/art students would be interested to follow the process, film it and edit it.

I will start the work on Monday 20th September until Friday 24th September. There is the opening of the show on the Friday at 22:00.

A student from the university of Monterrey in Mexico did a similar video with my work there, you can see it on the following link:

http://www.vimeo.com/11934839

I really hope this might be of interest for one or several of your students. It would be a very interesting cultural exchange.

The video will be later uploaded on my website www.atma-art.com and promoted worldwide.
